Mandragola is my latest perfumery discovery straight from the V Canto brand
Mandrake is one of the most famous lethal potions of the Middle Ages, made from the skilled distillation of herbs and woods with a precise narcotic and hypnotic action, the bearer of supernatural aphrodisiac effects when blended by expert apothecaries. Painstaking research into the secret formulas of Lucrezia’s powerful potions, recorded in her original diaries, brought forgotten knowledge back to light and provided the artistic inspiration for the creation of this new perfume: a potion of arcane, bewitching power that makes the wearer irresistibly alluring. This creation opens with a symphony of Mediterranean citrus fruits kissed by the power of extremely rare Italian saffron, unleashing a scent that echoes in sinuous waves to reach the elegant floral heart sustained by petals of tea rose, magnolia and gardenia, expertly fine-tuned with guaiac wood. A subtle yet agile evolution, followed by an explosion of Oud Cambodia heightened by vetiver and vanilla pod, with underlying amber and musk. A fragrance strong in character and irresistibly sensual.
The composition includes ingredients such as: absinthe, saffron, guaique wood, musk, bergamot, rose, oud, amber, vanilla and sandalwood. The opening of the fragrance is a woody and aromatic blend of oud, rose, guai wood and an interesting note of absinthe. The fragrance is incredibly interesting and alluring. I really enjoyed the slightly citrus face of the rose, which, in this version, is fresh, slightly floral, of course, incredibly spacious. In the background you can also smell a soft base of musk, which combines wood notes and absinthe in a wonderful way. There is also my beloved saffron, which adds class and elegance to the whole. Paolo Terenzi, the creator of this fragrance, was able to combine saffron with a rose in an outstanding way, making it unique and notnobvious. I love perfumes in which I immediately recognize the style of a perfume creator.
The fragrance parameters are fantastic. This is one of the most durable compositions of the V Canto brand that I have had the opportunity to test. If you are looking for an elegant, warming and woody fragrance, with a hint of floral sweetness and citrus, Mandragola will be the perfect fit.
