Bois 1920 is a brand of artisan perfumes from Florence that expresses the Galardi family’s passion for the art of perfume – making which is handed down from one generation to another. Passion that livens up, inspires and carefully enriches our line, of over 30 fragrances today. Moreover, the raw materials research combines tradition and innovation, for a harmony of unique and charming olfactory compositions.
The story all began in the 1920 when the grandfather Guido Galardi starts experimenting, the first formulas in his tiny workshop in Florence. He began collecting the “Spigo” (Lavander flowers) which ripens on the Florentine hills. His pursuit mixes different expressive features: essential oils, scented solutions, perfumed bags. All these characteristics inspire and shape the brand Bottega Italiana Spigo 1920 (BOIS 1920) which acquires a worldwide importance over the years along with recognised rewards. In 2012 Bois 1920 was selected among the best five olfactory expressions at the FiFi Awards (the Oscars of perfumery) in New York.
Today Bois 1920 represents the added value in the niche perfumery sector playing an active role towards new olfactory versions that need to be explored and worn. A role that engage, inspire and harmonize our senses.
Itruk is a composition from the Fine Fragrance collection that premiered in 2015. It is a fresh spicy composition with a woody balsamic twist that delighted me from the first application. The fragrance includes such scent notes as: black pepper, patchouli, cardamom, juniper, pink pepper, cumin, iris, amberwood, nutmeg, incense, ambergris, oud, vanilla and tonka. The opening of the fragrance is an incredibly aromatic blend of cardamom, pepper and cumin, which rest on a base of ambergris and patchouli. There is also a delicate note of incense in the background. Itruk delights us with its aromatic character, and, thanks to so many spices, makes it a wonderful spicy composition. As a huge fan of pepper and cardamom, I am pleased with how wonderfully these ingredients have been extracted here. The fragrance is warm and autumnal. In the next stage, our senses are soothed by powdery vanilla, which rests on the characteristic note of oud. In the background, I can feel incense and a slightly powdery iris. Amazing things happen in the last stage of the fragrance projection. Oud and iris create a wonderful, light and warm aura that accompanies us until the very end of the fragrance projection.
The fragrance parameters are at the highest level. Itruk is a permanent composition with a great projection. The Bis 1920 brand showed itself in the best possible light, and, while browsing the rich catalog of the brand, I can only guess how much greatness is still hidden there.
